A student makes a solution be dissolving 3.942 grams of AgNO3 (silver nitrate) in enough water to make 100 mL of solution. She labels this solution “solution #1.”
She then takes 15 mL of solution #1 and dilutes it to 25 mL. She labels this “solution #2.”
She then takes 5 mL of solution #1 and dilutes it to 50 mL. She labels this “solution #3.” Finally, she takes 10 mL of solution#3 and dilutes it to 100mL. She labels this “solution #4.”
1) Draw a sketch of the relationship between all of the solutions paying attention to which dilution was made from which solution.
2) Calculate the Molarity of each solution. Be sure to show all your work with the proper units.
3) Categorize each solution as either “original stock solution”, “dilution of stock” or “dilution of dilution.”
