Tuesday 2/17 including Uncle Tungsten CH15-16

Instructions for Tuesday:

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD
1) Turn in your formal writing assignment for the pencil article in a neat pile.
2) Turn in your Uncle Tungsten questions for chapters 10-14 in a separate pile.

Period 1/2 Chemistry:
If Daisy is there, you will go over your bond polarity homework. She will circle any questions on your sheet that you did NOT complete BEFORE going over the homework. You should have completed at minimum all but 93-96. If she feels that you are ready, she may be able to do her teaching lesson from Friday with you guys today as well.
If Daisy is not there, turn in your polarity homework in another pile AT THE BEGINNING of class and we will complete and go over it tomorrow.

BOTH periods MATH:
Exeter Math group: There is a new page in the back of the first purple file (page 23) of the top left hand drawer as you face Spencer's class. Do the first half of that. Complete as homework if needed.
Non-exeter group: There is a CPM worksheet with the Tangent function on the top of a pile on top of my black stacking files- page 385. Complete that and turn it in.

BOTH Periods Chemistry: (This applies to period 1/2 only when the above is completed because that has priority)
1) Be Prepared to give your drug presentations tomorrow. I will choose the order at random. My e-mail may be full so forwarding your e-mail rejection with a time and date on it will tell me when you attempted to send it to me on Friday. Even if you sent it to me be prepared by having your presentation on a flashdrive just in case. Spend some time preparing for your presentation- if you don't have time in class, it is homework.
2) Read and answer questions for Uncle Tungsten chapters 15-16. If you do not get to this in class, it is homework due tomorrow.
See below:
CH15: This chapter describes Sachs' homelife. Use the information in the chapter and the pictures in the center of the book to write a summary of his home life and how your think it impacted his love of science and future career choice as a doctor and writer. This should be between 1/2 - 1 page single spaced typed or 1-2 pages handwritten.
CH16: Chapter 16 describes Sachs' introduction to the periodic table. Answer the following questions regarding the chapter:
1) How does Mendelev change the format of the periodic table?
2) Why does the periodic table affect Sachs so deeply?
3) Describe how Mendelev formed his periodic table.
4) How was Mendelev able to predict the missing elements? How did this aid in the acceptance of his periodic table?
